If you’ve ever had the chance to live alone, you know just how glorious it can be particularly if you’re an introvert who flourishes in solitude. Idalia Candelas, a painter and illustrator from Mexico, created a gorgeous series of drawings about the magic of being on her own and the simple pleasures of single life. With her drawings, Idalia aims to show that there’s a difference between ”being alone” and ”living alone.” We often feel sorry for people who live by themselves, but who said that they are lonely or unhappy?
“The theme of the loneliness has been recurring in my drawings,” Candelas Explains. “I like to show women who exist in solitude but do not suffer. They are not depressed or crying. Rather [they] are safe, exalting in the sense of enjoying the company of just herself.”
