Everyone knows Lamborghini as an Italian manufacturer of luxury automobiles. While the whole world is fighting COVID-19, Lamborghini has also started to contribute to the battle in their own way.
The company has started sewing face masks and face shields to donate to healthcare personnel at the Sant’Orsola-Malpighi Hospital in Bologna.
It is reported that the workers from the Lamborghini cabins are producing surgical masks while the carbon-fiber plant workers are making face shields using 3D printing. They are planning to make 200 face shields and 1000 masks per day. After production, these medical gear need to be approved by the health officials in order for the medical staff to use.
Italy, being one of the worst COVID-19 affected countries, also records the second highest number of cases from any country, with 132,547 Cases and 16,523 Deaths as of now.
Stefano Domenicali, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini says, “During this emergency, we feel the need to make a concrete contribution. The S. Orsola-Malpighi Hospital is an institution with which we have had a collaborative relationship for years, through both professional consultancy in promoting programs to protect our workers’ health, and in research projects. We will win this battle together by working in union, supporting those who are at the forefront of fighting this pandemic every day”.
Lamborghini is not the first carmaker to join the cause. GM, Ford and the Mercedes-AMG Formula 1 team are also contributing to healthcare betterment by producing different medical equipment.
